    First Bento Lunch of 2015

Small Child went back to school yesterday, and I was very sad to see him go.  We have had a lovely Christmas and I didn't want the school holidays to end! Small Child wasn't happy about the end of the holiday either, so I did my best to make him a special bento lunch to cheer him up a little at lunch time.  He was perfectly happy when he came out of school this afternoon though, so I guess it wasn't all that bad!

In this lunch I packed some homemade pizza bread rolls (made from leftover pizza dough - the middles of the rolls were stuffed with tomato puree and grated cheese) on which I printed 2015 to decorate using a red edible marker pen.  On the side I packed mini smoked sausages, strips of raw organic carrot and yellow pepper, red and green grapes with blueberries and a few raisins in the dip well.  I cut short some sparkly cocktail stirrers and added them in to make fireworks, then finished the lunch off with some fun little dancing animal picks (they looked like they were having a party to me!). This lunch was packed in our Yumbox, with added silicone cups for a little extra colour.

Fun kids school lunch idea to celebrate the first day back to school after New Year from Eats Amazing UK

Since New Year's Eve, Small Child has been obsessed with party poppers, so I cleaned out and dried an empty one and popped a few mini marshmallows inside, before sealing it back up again with the cardboard disk before hiding it in his lunch bag.  He was delighted with this fun little surprise!

Hi Grace, happy new year! I didn't know you could get edible marker pens, thanks for that! I was excited enough by my icing writing tube! Lovely fireworks for your little cracker 🙂

Thank you, and Happy New Year to you too Jess! I am in love with my edible marker pens, one of my favourite 'fun food' tools! 🙂

Love the pizza roll idea... may have to give that a whirl. Leftover pizza is one of our kids favourite packups.

Thanks very much, pizza is always a massive hit in my son's lunches!
