Today I was having one of those mornings when nothing goes quite right, especially when it came to Small Child’s lunch! I made him dinner using our favourite IKEA moose shaped pasta, and saved some of the pasta for his lunch too. I wasn’t feeling quite adventurous enough for a full on moose themed lunch, so I decided to just go with a mix of random animals instead. None of them turned out quite how I intended, but at least I tried!
In his lunch box he had a pasta salad made with moose pasta, chopped red pepper, chopped ham, some light mayonnaise and a sprinkling of mixed herbs. On the other side he had a dubious mouse egg (Small Child guessed it was a bear, my husband thought it was cat…!), made with carrot ears and spaghetti whiskers, some carrot birds and some grated cheese to sprinkle on the pasta (nest for the birds?).
In his second box he had a dubious owl made from a pear (Small Child thought it was a penguin), with a couple of chocolate eyes, some yoghurt covered fruit flakes (raspberry flavour) with a cute giraffe pick, and some green and purple grapes skewered on hoomemade ladybird picks.
He also had a frozen organic yoghurt tube (not shown). I think the lunch looks fairly amusing, even if not quite what I intended; sometimes it just doesn’t work out quite right!
