Have you been making any fun food recently? I hope so, because Fun Food Friday is back! I took a long break over Christmas and New Year, but now I'm here again and ready to get the weekly Fun Food Friday linky back up and running. I hope you all had a lovely break over the festive period, and are feeling refreshed and full of creativity for the new year ahead.
The fun food I'd like to share with you today is a special lunch I made for Small Child in honour of him joining the Beavers last week. The Beavers are the youngest members of the Scouts organisation, and each group is called a Beaver Scout Colony. We were delighted to find a new Colony starting up in our area, and Small Child was over the moon to get a place in it. In the morning of the day he was due to attend his first meeting, I asked him what he wanted for lunch (meaning which foodstuffs), to which he immediately replied "beavers please", so I did my best to oblige!
In this lunch Small Child had a wholemeal pitta bread, toasted, split and filled with organic houmous and ham. I used the cuteZcute cutter to press an outline into the pitta bread, which I then drew over with edible pen, adding a beaver face to each half. I hope they looked like beavers, anyway! On the side he had a cheese stick, raw carrot disks (under the cucumber), cucumber slices, a 'B' for Beavers cut from raw carrot, a plum, sliced in half, stoned and decorated with leaf picks, and some red grapes.
Small Child seemed delighted with his Beaver lunch, and ate every last bit. He also thoroughly enjoyed his first Beaver meeting, which he attended with great excitement that evening.
