Good morning and a Happy Halloween to you all! Today I’m sharing the last of my Halloween lunches from the last few weeks, and although Halloween season is nearly over for this year, do bookmark or pin this post ready for next year!
My boys are carving their pumpkins, discussing costumes and preparing treats for our local trick-or-treaters this morning, and I’m marveling at how Halloween has become such a highlight of autumn in our house over the last few years – it’s amazing how having children can change your perspective. From fun Halloween food and lunches to pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating, we now throw ourselves into the festivities and thoroughly enjoy the extra excuse to have a bit of fun!
In this first lunch, I packed some bat sandwiches on seeded bread with German sausage filling, which I cut out using a cookie cutter and topped with cute googly eye bento picks. On the side I packed some sliced carrot and frozen peas (they defrost by lunch time) topped with a bat cupcake pick, some plain popcorn topped with a spider web cupcake ring, a fig, sliced and topped with a toy spider and some organic blueberry yoghurt. As a treat, I popped a few Halloween sprinkles in the dip well for Small Child to add to his yoghurt. This lunch was packed in our orange Yumbox Panino bento box.
The second lunch was packed in our Monbento Tresor bento box. I’m really enjoying this bento box after receiving it for review in the summer (you can read my review of the Monbento Tresor bento box here). In this lunch I packed some Ryvita crispbreads, which I topped with little cheese ghosties cut out using a little plunger cutter. I moulded a hard boiled egg into a bat using our CuteZCute Animal Palz kit and popped it into a red silicone cup to hold it separate from the crispbreads. In the second layer I packed slices of cucumber and raw red pepper strips, topped with a spiderweb cupcake pick, and some red grapes, topped with a bat cupcake pick.
The third lunch was something of a leftovers lunch as we were running very low on food that day! In this lunch I packed some Organix apple rice cakes, a cute pea pod silicone cup filled with slices of mini pepperoni, which I decorated with a ghost pick and plastic spider, natural yoghurt with some desiccated coconut mixed in (Small Child loves this!), some cucumber chunks, decorated with a googly eyes pick and some bone picks for arms and some chopped red grapes and blueberries, topped with a cute Frankenstein robot cupcake ring. I popped a few Halloween sprinkles into a mini flower silicone cup and put it in the dip well to be sprinkled over the yoghurt.
The next lunch was a very simple one. In this lunch I packed a bread roll, filled with cream cheese and ham and decorated with an eyeball cupcake ring and googly eye bento picks to make a bread roll monster (this was Small Child’s idea!). On the side I packed some cooked and chopped beetroot, decorated with a monster hand cupcake pick, some red grapes, decorated with more googly eye picks and a few crisp sticks in the dip well. This lunch was packed in our blue Yumbox Panino bento box.
Last but not least this simple lunch was packed when I was running out of ideas somewhat. My fun Halloween cupcake rings came to my rescue and made the lunch fun even when I was short of inspiration! In this lunch Small Child had some bread sticks, topped with an eyeball cupcake ring, roast beef slices, rolled and skewered on a ghost pick, slices of malt loaf, which I buttered and sandwiched together, raw carrot and cucumber slices, strawberries, grapes and some raisins in the dip well. I added three of my monster robot cupcake rings to decorate and Small Child was delighted!
