I really can’t believe that we are now in December, where has this year gone?! Amongst the many exciting things that the beginning of December brings to mind, this year it has a new significance – Dinovember is now over! As I sadly pack our dinosaurs away in their box, here’s a round up of the last week of Dinovember in the Eats Amazing household. If you haven’t got a clue what I’m talking about, you can read my previous Dinovember posts here and here.
On day 9, the dinosaurs created chaos at the DVD shelf. As well as pulling a whole load of them off the shelf and building a massive pile from them that they appeared to by practicing their climbing skills on, they also made themselves a couple of forts from the DVD cases.
On day 11, their musical side shone out again, as they raided the toy instrument box and a had a good bash around. Those dinosaurs that hadn’t got their hands on an instrument appeared to be having a fantastic time singing or roaring along with the others!
On day 13, the dinosaurs appeared to be hungry, as they raided Small Child’s play food stash. He very rightly pointed out that it made perfect sense – toy dinosaurs would surely prefer toy food over any other!
On day 14, the dinosaurs seemed to be making the most of their last night of freedom. At first we thought that they’d made a run for it, as they were nowhere to be found. After a lot of searching we decided to give up and have breakfast. In the words of Small Child; ‘Don’t worry mummy, they’ll turn up!’, and turn up they did. Small Child finally discovered them partying in the fridge when he went in there to get himself a glass of milk!
Dinovember was so much fun, and inspired a huge amount of creative play in our house last month. Our dinosaurs had been languishing in their box for some time, and I was considering put them up in the loft until Small Baby is big enough to play with them, but they have well and truly been brought back into the play routine. They also created a welcome distraction from the endless build-up to Christmas – it seems to get longer every year – but this year we’re only just beginning to think about Christmas, which is as it should be I feel! A huge thank you must go to the original creators of Dinovember, what amazing inspiration they have provided to so many people!
Until next year…
