When I first set up the Eats Amazing blog, I never dreamed of the places that it would take me, the people that I would meet, the opportunities it would bring me or the knowledge I would gain. Over the last year I have attended a blogging awards ceremony, taken part in a flash dance, met some truly amazing fellow bloggers and my fun bento lunches have been showcased in the local, national and international press and on TV!
Since starting my blog I’ve learnt to set up and run a website, set up and run social media pages for Eats Amazing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, (to mention a few!), set up and run a successful online bento shop, created a friendy and supportive lunch packing community, got involved with and made some lovely friends in the blogging community, made huge strides with my photography skills (admittedly with a long way to go still!) and even learnt how to make videos. I feel as though I learn something new every day, and all the while I’m making lots of fun food, coming up with fresh ideas and recipes and sharing them with you, my lovely readers, here on the Eats Amazing blog. Then there’s the small matter of being a full time mum to my two lovely boys too, and my poor attempts at staying on top of the housework – I’m exhausted just thinking about it!
It’s currently awards season here in the UK blogging world, which can only mean one thing – lots of bloggers writing blog posts just like this one asking for your help with nominations and votes! You may remember that last year I got through to the final of the MAD Blog awards, a completely unexpected honour that quite honestly made my year! I got to attend the awards ceremony at the beautiful Royal Garden Hotel in London, and I had a wonderful time, meeting lots of lovely bloggers that I have long admired and getting quite emotional as some truly incredible bloggers received their very well deserved awards. As I mentioned above, I also took part in a flash dance that night – now there’s something I never thought I’d say!
I enjoyed the experience so much that I would absolutely love to repeat it if at all possible, and nominations for this years MAD Blog Awards just opened this week! If you enjoy what I do here at Eats Amazing and can spare a minute or two, I would really appreciate it if you could pop over and nominate me in the food category for this year’s MAD Blog Awards.
But wait, there’s more! This year for the first time I have reached the shortlist of another blogging awards – the Brilliance in Blogging (BiB) awards run by Britmums! Eats Amazing is one of 10 blogs on the shortlist for the food category, and I would dearly love to get to the final of these awards too. You can help me get there by clicking through and voting for Eats Amazing here.
As I hope I’ve shown at the beginning of this blog post, blogging is about so much more than taking photos and writing up recipes, though that is obviously at the core of all that I do. Running a blog takes a huge amount of work and awards like these mean the world to us bloggers, giving us something extra to strive towards and encourage us as we go about our work. I feel so privileged to have made it to last year’s MADs final and this year’s BiBs shortlist, and to progress even further would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you can spare a minute to vote for or nominate Eats Amazing via the links above, I will be eternally grateful!
I have already nominated and voted for some of my favourite bloggers for the BiB Awards, and will shortly be nominating them for the MAD blog awards too. Below I’ve listed a few of my very favourite blogs, and I’d encourage you to check them out and maybe add them to your voting list too.
The blogging community is vast, and there are so many amazing blogs, I’d be here all night if I tried to list all the blogs I love, so the above is just a small selection. I’d like to wish every blogger the very best of luck with both awards!
Last but certainly not least, thank you to each and every one of you lovely readers for taking the time to visit Eats Amazing. This blog would be nothing without you, the readers, and I feel grateful every single day that you are interested enough in what I do here to come and read what I have to say. Thank you!
A little selection of some of my favourite work to date, including creative sandwich ideas, fun bento lunches, cute plates of food art, healthy lunch box food ideas, colourful muffin tin meals and even a spot of cake decorating! I hope you’ll think it’s worth a nomination!
